The Indianapolis Symphonic Band, represents and serves the community by providing year-round, free of charge, accessible band concerts in a variety of venues--indoors and out, to audiences of all ages--throughout the Central Indiana area. It's our mission to promote musical and artistic growth and support continued musical education to our members and our audiences.
The Indianapolis Symphonic Band (ISB) is an
75-piece concert band that performs a variety of concert band music from marches to musicals, from overtures to popular sounds.
The Indianapolis Symphonic Band
performs over 15 concerts a year in outdoor venues and at the Warren Performing Arts Center. This year, 2018, the band begins its 63rd year of music.
New Conductor and Associate Conductor Named
The Indianapolis Symphonic Band Board of Directors has named two experienced local school music educators to become the Conductor and Associate Conductor of the band.
Curtis Prichard has accepted the invitation to be the principal conductor of the ISB. Prichard is also Co-Director of Bands and Director of Jazz Ensembles at Westfield High School. He has a Master of Science in Music Education from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music as well as a Master of Music degree from the University of Michigan. He was formerly Music Director of the Brown County Community Band in Nashville, Indiana.
John Hilmer will become an Associate Conductor of the ISB. Hilmer recently retired from a 26-year teaching stint with Warren Central High School in Indianapolis where he served as Director of Bands and Performing Arts Department Chairman. He studied Music at Quincy College, Western Illinois University, North Texas State University, University of Texas at Austin, and Texas A and I University.
